It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Preparations for Christmas are underway at the Rakerson House. This year that includes some birthday celebrations for Isaiah. It's hard to believe how different our lives were at this time last year - waiting to be parents. Last year we decided against the tree because I didn't want to have to take it down days after giving birth. This year we have decided against the tree because we didn't want Isaiah drinking water out of the base or worse. Instead we have a mantel tree which is branches from our cedars with ornaments thrown all over them. Isaiah seems to like it anyway.

And no, this isn't the outside of our house. Last night we had a babysitter so Miro and I went out to dinner followed by a trip to see the most lit house in Edmonton. Apparently the guy's electric bill for December is $10,000. We're not really sure if its worth the expense and the energy but it was pretty amazing to see. Our viewing was cut short because we couldn't stand the -25oC temperature. By the time we got back to the car after 5 minutes our noses and fingers were in pain. If it warms up a little we'll take Isaiah to see it.

On a final Christmas note, Isaiah's mother finally got around to finding him a Christmas/birthday outfit. Now all she has to do is get organized to get some pictures taken in it. For now this one will have to suffice.
